WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — The third day of testimony in the trial of the murder and sexual abuse of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller ended with the girl’s mother on the stand.

Noel Miller began dating Casey Frederiksen when she was 15 and pregnant with Evelyn.  The couple had two children together and Frederiksen was caring for all three kids the night Evelyn disappeared.
“I told him Evelyn’s not there, she’s not there and then I ran out the door and I don’t know if I started knocking on all the neighbors doors or ran outside. I think a little bit of both,” Miller said.
Prosecutors claim Frederiksen killed the little girl to cover up the sexual abuse.  Investigators say the defendant knew details about the death that weren’t public knowledge and kept changing his story about what happened on July 1, 2005.
A former federal inmate of Frederiksen’s offered the most graphic testimony yet.  Carter testified that the defendant confessed to sexually abusing Evelyn from the age of two.
“He stated that if they knew what he knew, he would get a life sentence,” Randy Carter said.
Carter told the jury that Frederiksen wasn’t worried that anyone would find out because the little girl was in the river and DNA could not be collected.
The state is planning to call more prison informants when testimony resumes Friday.
