FURNACE CREEK, California — A Boone native has won the world’s toughest foot race.
Twenty-seven-year-old Peter Kostelnick finished first in the prestigious Badwater 135 Ultra Marathon Thursday.
The race runs 135 miles from Death Valley to Mount Whitney in California.
Kostelnick managed it in just 23-hours, 27-minutes, and 10 seconds. He won by more than two hours over Oswaldo Lopez.
Kostelnick is a graduate of both Boone High School and Iowa State University. He now lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
