WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — Jurors in Hamilton County heard a second full day of testimony in the murder and sexual abuse trial of Casey Frederiksen. The 35-year-old is accused of killing 5-year-old Evelyn Miller back in 2005.

Floyd County authorities testified about how the missing child case became a murder investigation. The day searchers found her body in the Cedar River is still fresh in their minds.

“She was face up. Her arms were over her head. The best way I can describe it is a submissive position,” said Floyd County Chief Deputy Jeff Crooks.

The lead investigator in the case described Frederiksen as being concerned about the disappearance of the little girl. Former DCI Agent Jack Seward testified that Frederiksen broke down several times while he was being questioned. The case would take an emotional toll on Seward as well.

“I told them that I would work as long as I could, but when I felt I couldn’t continue any further, I would left them know,” said Seward who eventually asked to be removed from the case due to health reasons.

Two years later, while serving a federal pornography sentence, a FBI Agent interviewed Frederiksen in prison. Agent Jennifer Sullivan told the jury that he never admitted to killing the 5-year-old and denied sexually abusing her. On the stand, Sullivan Frederiksen confessed to being sexually attractive to girls the same age as Evelyn.

“His child pornography sexual weakness was watching grown men sexually abuse girls between the ages of 5 to 7 and we discussed the fact that Evelyn fell into that category he called himself a sicko,” said Sullivan.

Frederiksen’s trial was moved from Floyd to Hamilton County. The state is expecting another full day of testimony Thursday.
